HQ2018 - Announcements

Second Announcement

============================================================
           Hot Quarks 2018 Workshop - HQ 2018
============================================================

We are very pleased to announce that the 8th workshop in the Hot Quarks
series will be held September 7-14, 2018, on Texel, The Netherlands.

The aim of this workshop is to enhance the direct exchange of scientific information among the younger
members of the Relativistic Heavy Ion community, both from the experiments and theory. Therefore we
especially want to encourage postdoctoral fellows, advanced graduate students, and junior faculty and
research staff to apply.

Topics that will be addressed include:

- QCD at high temperature/density and lattice QCD
- Initial state effects and Color Glass Condensate
- Relativistic hydrodynamic and collective phenomena
- Correlations and fluctuations
- Jets in the vacuum and in the medium
- Baryons and strangeness
- Heavy flavor, dileptons and photons
- AdS/CFT correspondence and the Quark-Gluon Plasma
- Experimental techniques and future programs

The workshop program is divided into morning and afternoon/evening sessions each consisting of short (~20 min)
presentations and typically one longer overview talk. Each session is followed by a relatively long (~1hr)
Question&Answer session. Active participation is encouraged in the Q&A sessions. Ample free time between lunch
and the afternoon session and after dinner is planned in order to enhance informal interactions.
The number of participants will be restricted to <70. Every participant will give an oral presentation.
All participants are expected to be present on the workshop premises throughout the duration of the conference.

The KKG Award is awarded for the best presentation at the conference. The prize is dedicated to the memory of Klaus
Kinder Geiger, who perished on Swiss Air flight 111 from New York to Geneva in 1998.

If you are interested in attending HQ2018 please pre-register and submit an abstract through our workshop website
at http://hq2018.bnl.gov. Pre-registration and abstract submission will open on March 15 and close on June 1st.
Due to the limited number of participants, and the high interest in attending this workshop, speakers will be
selected from the list of submissions after registration closes on June 1st, and notified via email.

Further details about the program and the workshop venue will be posted on the website http://hq2018.bnl.gov.
